A New Year and a New Opportunity Back to Posts

It’s a new year…2011!

In 2011, there will 12 months. 365 days. 8,760 hours. 525,600 minutes. 31,536,000 seconds. What will you do with ALL of that time??? Those months and days and hours and minutes and seconds?

With time always comes new opportunity. I love that word! The days ahead are just calling out for us to invest in them something useful, purposeful and lasting. And from the numbers above, it appears we will have a lot of opportunity this year, right?

I have a suggestion for how to invest our time and how to make the most of our opportunity this year…be a worshiper. In all of it – every month and day and hour and minute and second. “Technically,” you might say, “we are asleep a lot of that time. How can we worship then?” OK, you’re right, we might not be awake and worshiping every bit of that time, but when we aren’t snoozing, let’s be exactly that—awake and worshiping! It’s God’s will this year for you and me.

16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

So, worship! Not just on Sunday or Wednesday or during your quiet time. Be a perpetual worshiper. Don’t make anyone ever have to guess to Whom you belong. Make it obvious.

9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2

New Songs to Celebrate Our Amazing God

Are you a singer? Great! Only in the shower or in the car? That’s great too! There is a LOT of brand new music that our worship teams will be singing and playing as we lead in worship this year…starting right now – this week!!

I’m not kidding…LOTS AND LOTS of new stuff. I hope you will come sing with us in one of our two choirs…traditional or blended or BOTH!

Choir rehearses on Sunday nights from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (blended choir) and 6:00-7:00 p.m. (traditional choir) in the choir room located backstage of the worship center.

Or, come play in our orchestra. We really need woodwinds, brass and strings. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the worship center.

Childcare is provided weekly for choir and orchestra rehearsals.

For more information, contact Greg.

Or, come join our production team. Lots and lots of opportunity here, too! Contact Chris Hawkins, technical director for more information regarding particular areas of audio, video and lighting.

I hope you will invest some of your 2011 opportunity as a part of Ingleside’s worship team!
