Praise the Lord for the number of people going with the gospel here, there, and everywhere! We’ve sent a number of mission teams out this year, and the missions lunch is your chance to hear how God used our teams in East Asia (September, 2012) and in Haiti (October, 2012). Anyone is invited and all are welcome! Our next missions lunch is Sunday, October 28 in the Fellowship Hall. Register online to let us know you are coming. You can pay at the door upon arrival.

This Friday, October 19, we have a team leaving for Cambodia. They will be doing mobile medical clinics in partnership with Cambodian believers at a Christian hospital there. This is the first time we’ve sent a team to this part of the world, and we rejoice at the opportunity before us! Please pray for this team as they are preparing to go. Ask the Lord to ready their hearts for the task before them. Pray that they’ll travel safely there and home. Intercede for Cambodian people who have yet to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray that Cambodian Christians will be strengthened and encouraged by our team. Ask the Lord to use these clinics to heal people both physically and spiritually. For more information on the team to Cambodia, or to receive prayer reminders and updates, contact Lisa Call.

More and more Inglesiders are GOing on mission trips…here, there and everywhere. When they return home, they want to share what God has done. More and more Inglesiders are praying for God’s glory among the nations and for the short-term teams we are sending. When they’ve prayed, they want to hear how God has answered.

For this reason, we have the MISSIONS LUNCH…a great way to connect people who pray to people who go. Anyone is invited and all are welcome! It’s a great meal and a great time of fellowship around the tables. Why go to a restaurant for Sunday lunch when you can stay at Ingleside, be served delicious food within minutes of arrival, eat with your whole family for $15, and be greatly blessed by the testimonies of mission teams?

Our next missions lunch is Sunday, June 12 in the Fellowship Hall. Our most recent mission team to the Huaylas Quechua people of Peru as well as some of our college students who served on spring break mission trips will be sharing.
Email missions@ingleside.org to make a reservation by June 7.
Adults – $5.00
Children (10 and under) – $3.00 – lunch will be provided in childcare
Maximum $15.00 per family

It’s heartbreaking to see the messes left by recent tornadoes in North Georgia and Alabama. We can’t imagine what it would be like to experience a storm so powerful that your whole house, everything you own, is blown away in a matter of minutes. It makes us mindful of a few things:

God is all-powerful. As you look at photos of the destruction in the news, consider that those who are apart from Christ may be giving consideration to God after these storms. Could it be that God uses a tragedy like this to remind people that He is our Creator and Sustainer?

God is merciful. As bad as things are, they could always be worse. It’s amazing the number of people who lived through these devastating tornadoes. These twisters were powerful enough to split trees and demolish homes, yet so many homeowners survived. God shows mercy.

God’s children should reflect their Father and also show mercy. Perhaps your heart is heavily burdened when natural disasters strike, and you wish you could do something. Just a few weeks ago, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan happened, and now this. In just a matter of time, some other disaster will happen in some other place. Consider how much you would really appreciate people who came and offered help if you had been the one affected by the tornado. We can show and share God’s mercy. We hope that many from our church will give an hour, a day, or a weekend to help people in need. Of course, a person’s greatest need is a relationship with Christ, and so may God open opportunities to point people to Him as we step out and do some cleanup! Contact us if you would like to volunteer.

On April 8-9, over 400 people who call Ingleside their home church creatively participated in Macon Impact™, an outreach of the body of Christ at Ingleside to our community. Many Bible study classes, small groups and families worked together by serving their neighbors through home repair, yard work, and giving gift baskets. Several groups ministered in established community agencies, such as the Ronald McDonald House, the Macon Rescue Mission, and the Youth Development Center.

All ages participated. The preschool ministry collected diapers for Caring Solution Pregnancy Center. The children’s ministry put together 65 toiletry kits for the Dove Center and the Salvation Army. Older students handed out bottled water at Macon’s River walk, did manicures at a local nursing home, and cleaned restrooms of local businesses in Jesus’ name. The college students stuffed Easter eggs for Ingleside’s Easter Family Fun Day.
Over 600 pounds of food were donated and delivered to the Storehouse Ministry food bank. Ingleside partnered with Rebuilding Macon to help restore the home of a senior citizen. Some volunteers donated their time through painting and construction, while others provided lunch for the crew at the work site and the homeowner’s neighbors. Ninety-five pints of blood were donated at Ingleside’s Red Cross blood drive. Thirty-eight people walked and drove all over our community praying for the hearts of the people of Macon to be responsive to the gospel of Christ, and many sought opportunities to share the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ.

The next Macon Impact™ weekend is Saturday, September 24th. How will you make an impact for Jesus in Middle Georgia?

At Midweek each week, we have a missions prayer focus where we pray for an Ingleside mission team, a particular missionary or a people group that needs to hear the gospel. Since January, we have been praying through the list of the 100 largest unreached people groups in the world. A few weeks ago, we took a break from that to pray for North America because the North American Mission Board (www.namb.net) had a prayer emphasis and we wanted to join with other churches across our nation to pray for our own continent.

Many people have asked me about some of the alarming statistics that were shared at Midweek a few weeks ago, so we wanted to reiterate them here. The need to pray for North America is great.

The number of unchurched Americans almost doubled from 1991-2001.

The combined populations of the U.S. and Canada comprise the third largest mission field of unsaved persons in the world. Only China and India have more non-Christians.

There are an estimated 360,000 churches in the United States with an average of 125 persons per church. If every church in America doubled its attendance this Sunday, there would still be 190 million people not in church.

Half of all people in the U.S. and Canada live in just 43 cities with a population of over one million. Yet, only about one out of nine Bible-believing churches are found in these cities.

In Alabama, there is one church for every 1,420 people. In New Jersey, there is one church for every 17,384 people. In Canada, there is only one church for every 121,410 people.

Immigration is the fastest source of population growth in the U.S. and Canada. Today one in ten people living in America was born in another country.

In Los Angeles, 232 languages are spoken.

There are 500 people groups that have been identified in New York City.

America is the most ethnically diverse nation in the world. If we reach people with the gospel here on our continent, it will look like a little piece of heaven with so many different tribes and tongues worshiping the Creator! Please pray for our North American Mission Board missionaries and church planters who are seeking to make a difference. Ask God how we can make a difference from Ingleside.

Here’s a great video from the North American Mission Board that tells the story of what one woman is doing to reach the nations around her.

This time, the destination is Bolivia. We have had some individuals go to Bolivia in the past, but this will be our first team there. This team will primarily focus on orphan care. Most of our mission work up to this point has been focused on church planting and that will continue to be the focus as we seek to make disciples…here, there and everywhere. But God’s word says in James 1:27 that “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” We want to also show mercy and love to the fatherless, and the Lord has opened doors for us to do this in Bolivia.

Please pray for our team of 8: Sandra, Kristi, Christin, Billie, Jan, Buddy, Dilma and Sheryl.
