Policies and Procedures
We're glad that you have chosen to visit this unique ministry of
Ingleside Baptist Church. Our Family Life Center is unapologetically
Christ centered and church oriented, therefore, we expect certain
attitudes and actions from our participants. Our prayer is that you will
feel the excitement and joy we have as believers in Christ Jesus.
The following policies and procedures are designed for your safety
and protection. Please read and discuss these policies with your family.
It is important that everyone, guests included, understand the policies
and procedures so that all may enjoy the comforts, courtesies, and
services of this facility. If you have any questions, please ask.
Purpose
The purpose of the Family Life Center is:
- To seek to lead the lost to Christ;
- To reach and develop people for the glory of God;
- To provide quality leisure time activities in a Christian setting
that will enhance the fellowship of our church; and
- To undergird, strengthen, and supplement the other organizations
of the church.
Perspective
We believe that God is interested in the total person . . .
spiritually, physically, socially, and mentally. We expect the Family
Life Center to be a uniquely Christian environment. Our rules,
regulations, policies, and procedures are planned to be Christhonoring.
Our commitment is to Him. Please help us attain this goal while you are
here.
Liability
The use of the Family Life Center facility and all equipment will be
at the risk of the participant. Ingleside Baptist Church does not assume
liability or responsibility for any injury to the user of the equipment
or any facility in the Family Life Center. Organized classes and team
sports may require participants to sign a waiverofliability form
before they are allowed to participate in that particular activity.
Fees
- There are fees for some activities.
- Most fees are determined on a cost recovery
- Supply fees for craft classes should be paid I at the time of
registration.
- All fees are payable to Ingleside Baptist Church
Participation
Participation in the Family Life Center is open to members of
Ingleside Baptist Church or anyone enrolled in the Sunday School
ministry of the church. Children in third grade and younger are referred
to as underage children and must be accompanied by a responsible adult
when using the Family Life Center.
An Ingleside Baptist Church member may bring up to three guests at a
time without seeking prior approval from the Minister of Recreation and
Single Adults. A guest must be accompanied by his sponsoring church
member when using the Family Life Center, unless he is participating in
a scheduled program, such as exercise, craft, or continuing education
classes, or in a scheduled sports program.
Guests
Ingleside members are urged to bring guests to the Family Life
Center.
- Guests are individuals who are not enrolled in any organization of
Ingleside Baptist Church but are hosted by an Ingleside member.
- Each time guests come to the Family Life Center they should fill
out the guest registration form and be sure to have the member they
are with sign this form.
- Any Ingleside member desiring to bring more than three guests at a
time is asked to obtain prior approval from the Minister of Recreation
and Single Adults.
- Ingleside members are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
- Guests may leave without the Ingleside member, but when the
Ingleside member leaves, the guests must leave also.
- If Ingleside guests arrive before their sponsoring Ingleside
member, the guests should wait in the lobby for their host.
Entering and Exiting
The main entrance to the Family Life Center is the door adjacent to
the children's playground. If the door is locked, you may obtain
entrance to the facility by activating the speaker to the left of the
door and the front desk staff will electronically open the door for you.
- Individuals entering the Family Life Center are to sign in at the
Control Center.
- Participants are asked to remain in the Family Life Center. With
the exception of church related programming, participants are allowed
only in the Family Life Center.
Sign In
Everyone using the Family Life Center must sign-in at the control
center unless they are participating in a scheduled class, game, or
program.
Dress and Behavior
The Family Life Center is a ministry of Ingleside Baptist Church. We
are interested in influencing others for Christ; therefore, all
participants will speak, dress, and conduct themselves in keeping with
the highest Christian standards. Dress must be appropriate for all areas
of participation. Shorts must be worn over tights and leotards.
Halftops are prohibited. Shirts are required outside the locker area.
Long pants are suggested in the weight room.
Equipment
All equipment is checked out through the Control Center. Adults will
check out equipment for underage children, and in doing so, accept the
responsibility for the equipment. Lost, damaged, or misused equipment is
the responsibility of the user. All equipment must be returned to the
Control Center after its use.
Discipline
The Family Life Center is run by a Volunteer and/or Paid Staff. They
are trained and have the right to say "No" or "Stop". Please respect
their position. Willful violation of rules could lead to a loss of
eligibility to participate.
Gymnasium
- Players must play in tennis or basketball shoes only.
- There shall be no dunking of balls or hanging from the basketball
goals.
- No food or drinks on the gym floor or on the running track. Food
is allowed on the tiled floor in the bleacher area,
- The gym can be separated into two playing areas by a curtain.
Please do not pull or hang on this curtain. If the curtain is down,
please be courteous of those activities going on in that particular
area of the gym.
- Nothing may be thrown from the gym floor up to the running track.
- Check with the Control Center for scheduled programs. Programmed
activities will have priority over free gym play.
Indoor Track
- Children in 3rd grade and younger must be accompanied by a parent
or adult at all times while on the track.
- Nothing may be thrown from the track down to the gym floor.
- The running track may be closed during certain officiated team
sports and other programmed events. Check with the Control Center for
schedule.
- Everyone must walk/run in the same direction. Directions will
change daily. There are areas where you may rest if needed.
- 19 laps equal one mile.
- Hand lapcounters are available for checkout at the Control
Center.
Locker Rooms and Showers
- Locker rental is available for $15 per every six months. Personal
locks are not allowed.
- Daily lockers and locks are available at the Control Center free
of charge. Items may not be left overnight.
- Towels are available at the Control Center. A towel return
container is located in each locker room.
- All unclaimed clothing will be kept for one month before being
donated.
- Each person is responsible for keeping soiled clothing out of
lockers. Regular locker inspections are made by the Minister of
Recreation and Single Adults.
Game Room
- Refreshments are allowed in the game room. Food is not to be eaten
while playing with game equipment. Please use garbage receptacles.
- All equipment is provided free of charge at the Control Center.
User assumes responsibility for its return in good working condition.
- Please do not sit on or move any table or game.
- If there are people waiting to play the game that you are
currently using, please be courteous and finish your game as soon as
possible.
Televisions and Video Games
- All television programming will be monitored by Family Life Center
staff or Volunteers.
- All programming must meet the highest of Christian standards.
- The video games are provided by the Family Life Center for your
enjoyment.
- You may obtain these by checking them out at the Control Center.
- Personal game cartridges are not allowed. Only those owned by the
Family Life Center may be used.
- Playing time on the video games will be limited to fifteen minutes
when others are waiting to play.
Office and Control Center
- No one is allowed in the Control Center except paid staff and
trained volunteers on duty.
- The Control Center is the "hub" of all activity in the Family Life
Center. Always go there first to sign in and to receive information
about scheduled events.
- The telephones in the Control Center will be for office use only.
- A telephone for general use located on the wall across from the
Control Center. All calls on this phone will be limited to 3 minutes.
- The FLC has a direct phone line to the Control Center. That phone
number is 4774003.
Conditioning Room
- Participants under the age of 14 years old must be accompanied by
a parent to be in the conditioning room.
- Shirts are required. Long pants are recommended.
- Participants must attend a weight room orientation session. Call
the Control Center for an appointment.
- Participants may keep a record of their personal fitness on cards
that are provided.
- Do not bang the weights together.
Aerobics Room
- This room will be used for floor exercises and aerobics. No one
will be allowed in the Aerobics Room unless they are a part of a
scheduled class.
- This is a coed room, therefore, please be discreet about the
exercise clothing worn during aerobic classes. Women must wear tights
and shorts with all leotards.
- This room will be locked except for aerobic classes or other
programmed events.
Crafts Room
- All tools, tables, materials, supplies, etc., will be cleaned and
put in proper place after use
by participant.
- Only authorized personnel may fire the kilns.
- This room is primarily for the arts and crafts programs sponsored
by the FLC. Other
groups wishing to reserve this room should contact the Minister of
Recreation and Single Adults.
Hours of Operation
- The Family Life Center hours of operation will be posted in the
Control Center and in the Sidelights weekly schedule.
- The Family Life Center hours of operation may vary because of many
seasonal activities and the wide variety of events.
- The Family Life Center will close 30 minutes prior to regularly
scheduled churchwide meetings and will remain closed during such
activities.
- Since the Family Life Center is a support ministry of Ingleside
Baptist Church, the Family
- Life Center schedule will not conflict with the Ingleside Baptist
Church schedule.
Group Reservations
Ingleside Baptist Church Members or Groups
- Any Ingleside Baptist Church member or group may make application
to reserve specific areas of the Family Life Center, free of charge,
through the Minister of Recreation and Single Adults. All reservations
will be coordinated with the existing schedule.
**DURING REGULAR HOURS OF OPERATION: the FLC will be reserved for
the exclusive use of your group. Our regularly scheduled FLC Ministry
Team Volunteer will be there to help give assistance to your group as
they use the facility.
*AFTER HOURS OF OPERATION: the FLC may be reserved outside the
regular hours of operation. If this is the case, your group will be
responsible for the opening and closing of the FLC, and you will need
to find a person who is a member of the FLC Volunteer Ministry Team
and schedule them to work the control center during your event. This
step must be completed before the FLC can be used after normal hours
of operation.
- All groups must have one adult sponsor who is in charge of the
entire reservation. This person is referred to as the sponsor.
- All groups must have adequate adult supervision. The suggested
ratio of youth/children to adults is 10 to 1.
- All groups will be responsible for their own programs. The Family
Life Center
- Staff cannot entertain every group using the facility; however,
they will be available to help plan any function and provide needed
equipment.
NonIngleside Church Members
- Use of the Family Life Center will be restricted to Ingleside
Baptist Church members and their guests.
