Welcome Dr. Danny Akin Back to Posts

This weekend, we will be pleased to welcome Dr. Danny Akin to Ingleside. On Saturday afternoon, Dr. Akin will lead our Bible conference study of the New Testament letters of John. On Sunday morning he is preaching in all three of our worship services.

Since January 2004, Dr. Akin has served as the sixth president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Southeastern is one of six seminaries in the United States supported by our church as we give through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Dr. Akin is a graduate of Criswell College (B.A.,1980), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1983), and the University of Texas at Arlington (Ph.D., 1989). In addition to his duties as president, he also currently serves as Professor of Preaching and Theology at Southeastern.

Dr. Akin was married to his wife, Charlotte, in 1978, and they have four sons, three daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, and two more on the way.

I have known Dr. Akin for many years and am confident that we will be strengthened, encouraged, and challenged by his preaching and teaching. Please join me in offering to Dr. Akin a warm Ingleside welcome.

WiFi at Ingleside

Beginning on Sunday, February 12 we will offer free WiFi internet access throughout most areas of our Ingleside campus. The wireless connection will be identified as InglesideGuest, and will require no password to access.

As you would anticipate, all church facilitated web access will be subject to appropriate site filtering in order to help ensure that there is no improper internet usage on our campus. This is the same filtering system that we have used for years to ensure that church staff computers are not allowed access to inappropriate materials online.

It’s our hope that internet availability across our campus will enhance teaching and learning, and will prove to be a benefit to many of our church members and guests week by week and on special occasions. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Laurie Ennis, Publications Coordinator/Computer Specialist, or Tim Newberry, Business Administrator.

I’m grateful for your partnership in the gospel, and I am confident that the best is yet to come!

Your Pastor and Friend,

Tim McCoy
