Why Grace Really Is Amazing Back to Posts
February 10th, 2012Why Grace Really Is Amazing
Message series continues this Sunday
On January 8, we began a careful, biblical look at the biblical doctrine of grace. In the four messages so far, we have learned together . . . .
- A definition of grace. It is, simply put, “God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.” It is the favor that God bestows on those who do not deserve it and could never earn it.
- We are saved by grace. Ephesians 2:8-10 states this truth succinctly: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (ESV).
- Grace is rooted in God’s eternal plan. As 2 Timothy 1:9 says, God “has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time” (NIV).
- God’s sovereignty is the biblical context for grace. When the first believers prayed, the said: “Sovereign Lord, . . .” (Acts 4:24, ESV). Scripture clearly affirms that God is sovereign in creation, in revelation, and in human history. But is he sovereign in salvation? That’s where our study will resume this Sunday.
WiFi at Ingleside
Beginning this Sunday, February 12, we will offer free WiFi internet access throughout most areas of our Ingleside campus. The wireless connection will be identified as InglesideGuest, and will require no password to access.
As you would anticipate, all church facilitated web access will be subject to appropriate site filtering in order to help ensure that there is no improper internet usage on our campus. This is the same filtering system that we have used for years to ensure that church staff computers are not allowed access to inappropriate materials online. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Laurie Ennis, Publications Coordinator/Computer Specialist, or Tim Newberry, Business Administrator.
I’m grateful for your partnership in the gospel, and I am confident that the best is yet to come!
Your Pastor and Friend,
Tim McCoy
