Patriotic Service and June 29 Worship Service

Patriotic Service – July 6

On Sunday, July 6, we will gather in one great service in the Worship Center at 10:30 a.m.  On this Sunday closest to our national Independence Day, we will celebrate and give thanks to God for the liberties we enjoy as Americans . . . and for the ultimate freedom we have as followers of Jesus Christ.flag pic

But, someone might ask, is God pleased with a patriotic-themed worship service like the one we will have at Ingleside on July 6?  From Scripture, I believe the answer is clearly, “Yes.”

Jesus taught his first followers: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s” (Matthew 22:21, NIV).  So, it is not surprising to read from the pen of the Apostle Paul regarding our governmental leaders:   “Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed” (Romans 13:7, ESV).  The Apostle Peter was even more direct and succinct:  “Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king” (1 Peter 2:17, NIV).  There is no inherent conflict when we worship God and honor our nation and its leaders.  In fact, Scripture commands us to do both.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m. as we gather to honor America and to worship God.

Meet a Prospective Worship Pastor

As you may know, we are planning toward offering a new, band-led, more-contemporary worship service at Ingleside.  When implemented, the service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the Multi-Purpose Gym (previously called the Xtreme Zone Gym).  Infrastructure upgrades (sound, light, video, seating, etc.) were approved recently and are scheduled to be completed by early August.

Before this service is launched, we are also planning to bring a new worship pastor to our team to provide primary leadership for the music in this service.  So, this Sunday night, June 29, at 6:00 p.m. we will gather in the Multi-Purpose Gym to meet and worship with a pastor we are considering for this position on our team.  I hope you will be part of this gathering!

I am so grateful for the journey we have made together and am convinced that the best is yet to come!
