New Staff Member, Kickoff Sunday, and 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Dr. Justin Nalls, Lead Pastor

New Staff Member, Kickoff Sunday, and 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

I am excited to share with you that I have invited Scooter Noland to serve as our next Discipleship Pastor/Disciple-Making Team Leader. He will begin on Tuesday, September 2. As you know, David Peterson will transition to the role of Executive Pastor at the end of the year. Andy Johnson’s last day on our team will be December 31. This timeline will allow David to help Scooter get started in his new role while David also learns the Executive Pastor position.

I am thankful that God has provided such an experienced leader at just the right time for this role. Scooter’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Baptist College of Florida and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

His leadership experience includes ministry with middle school, high school, and college students for almost seven years at First Baptist Church of Panama City, Florida, followed by time with the International Mission Board, before coming to Ingleside to serve as our High School Pastor for four years. For the last 16 years, Scooter has served as a pastor at Hope Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. He served first as the High School Pastor for a couple of years, then as Interim Lead Pastor, and has been the Lead Pastor for the last 12 years.

His experience with missions, his current leadership of a young adult Bible study, his recent experience beginning a men’s ministry at his church, his overall leadership of a staff, and his teaching gifts all make him a great fit for this role!

Scooter is married to Allyson, and they have two adult children.

Join me in praying that God will bless their packing, traveling, moving, and settling in over the next several months.

What does the Discipleship Pastor/Disciple-Making Team Leader do?

As Discipleship Pastor, Scooter will oversee adult discipleship, including co-ed groups, classes, and studies, Men’s Ministry, and our Grow Conference. As Disciple-Making Team Leader, he will lead the team that currently includes Young Adult Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Missions Ministry, Rec Ministry, Membership, and the Bookstore & Café.

Our other Team Leaders are:

Wil Fason, Next Generation Team Leader (Preschool – High School Ministries)
Jonathan Green Worship Arts Team Leader (music and production)
Tim Newberry, Operations Team Leader (finance, facilities, food service)

Kickoff Sunday

This coming Sunday, August 3, we will return to our regular schedule, including worship services at 8:30, 9:40, and 11:00 a.m. All age-graded programming will resume, and children and students will move up to their new grade.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

The Bible says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1). Similarly, Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). As we begin a new year of ministry, it’s important that we acknowledge our complete dependence on the Lord, asking for his favor in order that we might accomplish all that he wants us to do.

To that end, we will have a church-wide season of prayer and fasting August 4-24. Anyone who currently receives our weekly e-newsletter will receive a daily email from me which will include the prayer topic for each day. Those who do not receive our e-newsletter can sign up to receive the daily email by texting the word PRAY to 22828.

We will end our 21 days with An Ingleside Night of Worship on Sunday, August 24. We will gather in the Worship Center at 6:30 p.m. for a time of singing, prayer, and Scripture reading.

With the affection of Christ,
