Acts 1:8 Weekend

I hope you are making plans now to be part of Acts 1:8 Weekend – our annual world missions conference.

We will welcome missionaries from all over the world this weekend, November 6-8. It starts with a Celebration Dinner on Friday night. On Saturday morning, we have World Adventure for kids. On Saturday night, we’ll host multiple Connection Dinners in homes across our community. On Sunday morning, missionaries will share information in classes.

You may also consider attending our Evangelism Training class Sunday afternoon, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. in W-200. This practical class is designed to help you feel more confident sharing your faith with friends and family members who don’t yet know Jesus. It will help you learn how to have natural gospel conversations and point others to the hope found in Christ. Come learn simple, effective ways to be a witness.

You can find more details about the weekend here.

Join me in praying that the Lord will use these days to expand our vision and deepen our commitment to going with the gospel, making disciples, and planting churches – here, there, and everywhere…all for the glory of God!

Church Plant Partnership Celebration!

You may know that we have been directly supporting three church plants. As planned, our financial support for one of those – City View Church in Atlanta – recently concluded as they celebrated their 5th anniversary. We are praising the Lord that the church is doing well and disciples are being made. Watch this video for a glimpse into how God has worked in the past 5 years:

Making A Commitment

We will have time to make our commitments for NEXT on Sunday, November 15. As you pray, think, talk, and plan toward that, here are several things to keep in mind:

  1. Your commitment is the total amount you plan to give toward NEXT over the next three years. If you are able and would like to give the entirety of your gift at once, you can. But you don’t have to. You can give weekly, monthly, annually, or periodically.
  2. Giving toward NEXT will begin on Sunday, December 6 and will continue through December 2029. Of course, you do not have to give that day. You can give according to the timeline that works best for you.
  3. You will be able to give “one-time” gifts or set up “recurring giving” through the “Give” page on our website. Be sure to select “Next Initiative – Building Fund” from the drop-down menu to ensure your gift goes to the right account.
  4. You can also give in person. In fact, for larger gifts, checks are preferable due to fees associated with online giving. Write “Next” or “Building Fund” on the memo line. At least initially, we will also have “Next” envelopes available that you can put your gift in.
  5. Your NEXT giving is above and beyond your regular giving. We need you to give what you are already giving so that we can continue to provide the ministry that we are already doing.
  6. In addition to cash gifts, you can give assets – real estate, collections, stocks and mutual funds, donor-advised funds, etc. Click here for more details. You can also contact our Chief Financial Officer, Tim Newberry, at [email protected].
  7. Every commitment matters. We’re not asking for equal giving; we’re asking for equal faithfulness. What has God entrusted to you in this season? What is he leading you to give?
  8. Your commitment and giving will remain confidential. Of course, our financial office will have access to that information, but no one else will. The rest of our staff and church will only know church-wide totals.

With the affection of Christ,
