Celebrating 75 Years!

The Bible is filled with commands for us to remember what the Lord has done for us.

Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. (Exodus 13:3)

Remember the wondrous works that he has done… (1 Chronicles 16:12)

They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer. (Psalm 78:35)

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. (Psalm 143:5)

Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me… (Isaiah 46:8-9)

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”  In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-25)

…remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:12-13)

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel… (2 Timothy 2:8)

We shouldn’t live in the past, but it’s good to remember the past. Remembering God’s goodness and faithfulness up to this gives us reason to worship and helps us look forward with confidence and hope.

The Lord has been incredibly gracious to our church family up to this point. This coming Sunday, we will pause to look back and be reminded of what the Lord has done in the past 75 years. In each of our three worship services, we will sing songs that help us celebrate God’s faithfulness; we will hear some of Ingleside’s story; and we will get to hear from our Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Tim McCoy. We will also have food and displays in the Gathering Area throughout the morning.

As we look back, it will give us reason to worship and help us look forward with confidence and hope.

I hope you will plan to be here as we celebrate 75 years of God’s goodness and faithfulness to Ingleside!

With the affection of Christ,
