Getting Started
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3:22–24, ESV)
Every morning should be a reminder of the faithfulness of God and the hope we have in Jesus. Each day can be a new beginning. Each season is an opportunity for a fresh start. Over the next few days, many children and students will begin a new grade, most with a new schedule or new teacher. Teachers will get new students! Teams get new players. New patterns will develop. Let me encourage you to use this new season as an opportunity to take a step forward in your walk with the Lord.
Do you have a plan for reading God’s word on a consistent basis? On the Resources tab at the top of our website, there are several suggestions to choose from that fit your daily patterns.
Do you have a consistent pattern of worship with others? This Sunday, August 2, we return to our regular opportunities for corporate worship with an 8:30 a.m. service in the Chapel and in the Worship Center at 9:40 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Let me encourage you to develop the default of participating fully.
You don’t need to ask the question, “Are we going today?” when you have already decided, “We always go!”
We return to our regular patterns for other Sunday morning opportunities as well. Adult classes return to the regular schedule. Next-Gen ministries for Children, Middle School, and High School kickoff this Sunday! I hope that you’ll be in your place!
Getting Started, Again
I’m so thankful that Scripture points to the opportunity for renewal not just in seasons, but in our spiritual relationship with God in Jesus. God provides a path to a fresh start. Christ is that path. As we confess our sins and turn from the old, God makes us new in Christ! Note that truth in these verses!
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, ESV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV)
