Who Can You Invite?

This past Sunday, we looked at Acts 16:11-40. We saw that as individuals and families placed their faith in Jesus, they immediately began meeting together. That pattern is actually first established earlier in the book of Acts. Acts 2:41-42 tells us that on that day, 3,000 people believed in Jesus and immediately “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” The message is clear: we are not meant to follow Jesus alone, but together. We are meant to be part of a Bible-believing, God-honoring, Christ-exalting, Spirit-filled, mission-advancing church.

There can also be a benefit in someone who has not believed in Jesus attending a worship service. We learn in 1 Corinthians 14:24-25 that a non-believer may be in a worship service and begin to “worship God and declare that God is really among you.”

So, who can you invite? Is there someone in your life who is a follower of Jesus but needs a church home? Is there someone in your life who has not believed in Jesus but might be willing to attend a worship service with you?

LifeWay Research found that approximately 1/3 of unchurched people would attend a worship service if invited by someone they know. Even more would attend other church-related events, such as our Fall Family Festival or an Upward sports program.

So, who can you invite? And when you invite them, offer to meet them at a designated place, help them find their way around the building, sit with them, and introduce them to some other people (I would love to meet them!). And let’s ask the Lord to use those invitations to make more disciples.

Semi-Annual Church Conference

Our Semi-Annual Church Conference will be on Wednesday, August 27, at 7:45 p.m. in F-300. We will vote on the budget, Overseer nominees, and Deacon nominees. Click here to see the budget and nominees. We will have a time for Q&A, and I will do my best to answer any questions you have about anything Ingleside-related.

I am thankful for healthy processes for approving the budget and selecting Overseers and Deacons. I hope to see you here for this important part of the process!

With the affection of Christ,
